The Network for Social Democracy in Asia Academy of Progressive Politics (SocDem APP) training program and learning management system is a project operated and owned by SocDem Asia. SocDem Asia respects the rights of every person such as the right to information privacy as embodied in Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012. Hence, we have this Privacy Agreement.
This Privacy Agreement contains the prevailing policy of SocDem Asia for SocDem APP  with respect to the collection, use and protection of your Personal Information which we will collect prior to you receiving our service/s and to achieve our legitimate and legal goals. From time to time, we will make amendments to this Privacy Agreement in accordance with the changes in our policy and the law. In that case, we will give you notice of such changes in our website for your information and reference.

SocDem Asia  believes that in this era of Information and Communication Technologies, Data Privacy is paramount. Hence, your rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 is on top of our minds.
Along with your giving of consent to us to collect, process, use and share your Personal Information and with the actual giving of your Personal Information is your consent and acceptance of the terms and conditions set forth in this Privacy Agreement. In relation to this, we would like to inform you of your Data Privacy Rights attached to your Personal Information you shared. Primarily, these are the following:

1. You have the right to know information about the Personal Information we collect, process, use, and/or share with other persons and/or our partner organizations. We can give you such information provided that the information you request is not proprietarily owned by SocDem Asia, or your request is not vexatious or unreasonable;
2. You have the right to refuse to give your consent to collect, process, use or share your Personal Information. However, should you refuse to withhold consent, we may be forced to not render our services;
3. You have the right to suspend, withdraw, or order us to block, remove, or delete your Personal Information in our processing system if you have information, duly supported by substantial evidence, that your Personal Information is no longer needed for the declared purpose for which said information was collected, and for other reasons stated in the Data Privacy Act of 2012; and
4. You have the right to damages for any injury you might sustain from the incorrect, incomplete, outdated, wrong, illegally collected, or unauthorized use of your Personal Information.

By applying to SocDem APP, you (the ‘Participant’) hereby expressly agree, consent, and authorize the SocDem APP to collect and process the following personal and sensitive personal information:

• Personal Details: Name, address, contact details, birthday, age, gender, civil status, nationality, signature, ID picture, passport details
• References: Name, e-mail address
• Other information which may be indicated in the Application form, including but not limited to, membership in an organization, affiliation, certification, licenses.

The Student agrees that the above-mentioned personal information shall be processed for the following purposes:

1. Pre-Admission

• • For processing and facilitating the Participant’s application with any of the programs of SocDem APP 

1. • For assessing the Student’s fitness to be enrolled in any of the programs of SocDem APP
   • For processing travel requirements, if necessary
   • For checking and validating the accuracy and correctness of the information provided by the Participant, which includes granting SocDem APP the authority to procure and obtain, from third parties (including organizations, employers, and character references of the Participant), an accurate and complete copy of the Participant’s academic and professional records
2. Tenure
   • For the maintenance and storage of the various records of the Participant during his tenure at SocDem APP
   • For the completion of the training requirements,
   • For the documentation, including but not limited to the taking of photos and videos, of training activities
3. Completion
   • For the processing of all requirements needed for the completion of the Participant, including, but not limited to, certificates
4. Post-Completion
   • For the verification of participant records pursuant to a lawful request of a verifying individual or organization
   • For the receipt of communications from SocDem Asia regarding updates, events, and programs
   • For the receipt of communications from the College regarding training opportunities

We collect your personal data from any documents or communications that you may have directly submitted to us, from publicly available information, or from third parties. This may include any references that you have provided, such as present and past organizations and educational institutions.

Once you become an applicant or participant of SocDem APP, you will inevitably be referred to in many of the SocDem APP’s documents and records that are produced by you, other participants, and SocDem APP or resource persons in the course of carrying out your duties as a participant. Your personal data relevant to your role and status in SocDem APP, including your participation in SocDem APP events and activities, may be made public through different media such as SocDem Asia’s newsletters, websites, and social media accounts.

SocDem APP collects, records, organizes, stores, updates/modifies, retrieves, consults, uses, or consolidates your personal information during the application period pursuant to the purposes stated above.

You may inform us of the specific personal data you do not want to be processed beyond the requested purpose. We will respect your request in so far as it is feasible to fulfill the purposes for which the personal data was collected.

Where you have provided us with the personal data of individuals other than yourself, you warrant that you have obtained their consent for the disclosure, in accordance with the DPA.

The Participant agrees that the above-mentioned personal information may be disclosed by SocDem APP to the following recipients for the following purposes:

1. Messenger and/or Courier Service Providers: For the receipt and delivery of documents to partner institutions;
2. Prospective Employers: For the verification of whether or not the person subject of the inquiry is a graduate of SocDem APP;
3. Third-Party Storage Management Service Provider: For the storage of the Participant Folder and all of its contents; For the safekeeping of the Participant Folder and all of its contents; For the organization of the Participant Folder and all of its contents
4. Third-Party Photography and Video Service Providers: For the documentation of SocDem APP activities, including, but not limited to, the commencement rites; and
5. Third-Party Travel Agencies: For the processing of travel requirements, if necessary.

When the processing of personal information is outsourced by SocDem APP to a third party, the processing will be subject to written agreements between the SocDem Asia and the third parties processing the data, in accordance with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act of 2012. These written agreements specify the rights and obligations of each party and will provide that the third party has adequate security measures in place and will only process the personal information of the Participant on the specific written instructions of SocDem APP.

We protect your Personal Information through having adequate measures that ensure their confidentiality and privacy and prevent their loss, theft, or unauthorized and unlawful use.

We only have a select few employees in SocDem APP who are authorized to collect, process, use, and share your Personal Information. Aside from these authorized personnel and our partner organizations, we will only give access to your Personal Information to you or your authorized representative, after presentation of an ID and a written Special Power of Attorney.

SocDem APP will not give, sell, or share your information to anyone, unless you have consented thereto.

Your Personal Information will remain in our database for five years from your last training program in SocDem APP. After the lapse of said period, or prior thereto but upon a Formal Letter Request, your Personal Information shall be deleted from our database and any physical document containing such shall be shredded.
